When working to overcome the humanitarian challenges in Africa the task may seem overwhelming and yet there are some folks who are willing to meet those challenges head on. Take the small non-profit group of KENWA for instance; there plan is not just to stop AIDS but it is a more encompassing plan one, which includes education, water supplies, taking care of orphans and combating AIDS.
Water is a critical issue in many places in Africa and just recently new technologies have been coming into place. The “Water from Thin Air” technologies are well on there way it seems, as we keep reading about them in the Science Journals and that means prices will be coming down too and mass production will make them available. The process is simple and so this is one possible solution.
Sustainable agriculture is a must and cultural change from within is a must too. KENWA is working through all these challenging issues. Education will not be easy as many of these children have parents dying of AIDS, many are orphans and so many need food and shelter. Indeed, they also need an education, for soon they will be running things, a responsibility that they will have to face. Just listening to the story the other day on NPR, brought a tear to my eye;
